Solar energy storage

Well it looks like with renewable energy the main problem is it is intermittent and storage seems to be the main issue. What kind do you think can be utilised currently for OSE. Compressd air, thermal energy storage, batteries are various ways. I feel that thermal energy is hard to do but the best bang for bucks, then comes compressed air as they are easy to manufacture and troubleshoot and the batteries which are problematic, inefficient and hard to manufacture.

Definitely compressed gas, I would say. The equipment is readily available in a hardware store and the equipment to return it to electricity can be easily hacked together I'd say using a car alternator and a turbine (which you might make on RepTab?).
Speaking of which, why don't we see more RepTab designs on Thingiverse?
Because only Marcin is on site. I don't believe anyone has picked up where I left off.
Compressed gas is not efficient regarding power density is there a person who can design a steam engine using a solar thermal storage tank(molten salt 250 C) and not use a dreaded boiler?? If there is then I think I have an idea that might just work for implementing large scale solar thermal energy. It is not really complicated too.

I have used 20 ft shipping containers with bitumous mastic liner, 50% glycol / 50% water - freezign temp is -29 degrees then.
Can also use bladders or liners.
Can then run them in series for massive quantities.
Bury it undeground, with copper tub heat exchangers through top and bottom as a coil.
insulate using expanding foam. Or if you want to use natural materials use sand, with a tap damp proof layer to keep the sand dry, and a geo drain around the edges out to a stone coffin. Basically you need to keep water away from the outside of the container to maintain insulation u value.
Solar energy is difficult since you have no power during night times. You must have at least two alternative sources of energy to keep everything going 24 hrs a day.
